Compass Group UK & Ireland, the UK’s largest food and support services firm, is celebrating after a number of its talented chefs won a haul of medals at the Great Hospitality Show.

Compass Group UK & Ireland chefs shine at Great Hospitality Show

Thirty-five chefs from across the Compass business showcased their talent, bringing back 42 awards between them, having competed at the Salon Culinaire at the Great Hospitality Show, held at the Birmingham NEC, between 23 January and 25 January 2017.

The event comprised of four competition categories including; Salon Display; Live Theatre; Skills Theatre; and La Parade des Chefs, to demonstrate the terrific skills and talent within the industry. The Compass team, headed by Nick Vadis, Culinary Director at Compass Group UK & Ireland, won 7 gold, 4 silver, 14 bronze, 6 merit and 7 best in class awards. Three Compass chefs were also recognised with four awards at the end of the show that celebrated their overall work during the event.

Altogether, more than 85 different competitions took place over the three days of the show, with hundreds of chefs competing from across all industry sectors. During the event, Compass Group UK & Ireland also hosted a recruitment stand where visitors were able to find out about the various opportunities available within the business.

Nick Vadis, Compass Group UK & Ireland’s Culinary Director, said: “I am extremely proud of all of our chefs that took part in the competition. The Salon Culinaire provided our chefs with an opportunity to demonstrate the breadth of talent and skills being developed within our business. It is excellent to see our chefs come away with an array of awards at one of the most prestigious chef competition programmes in the country, congratulations to all winners!”

Robert Kennedy, Executive Chef at ESS, Compass Group UK & Ireland’s Defence, Government and Offshore division, mentored a team of three chefs during the event. He said: “I’m so pleased that the ESS team came away with some great awards at The Great Hospitality Show and it was amazing to see the three chefs from my team winning four of the overall end of show awards. The competition gives an opportunity to show the passion that we put into our day-to-day work and it is brilliant to have so many chefs from across the industry come together to showcase their talent and skills.”

The Great Hospitality Show celebrates the British Hospitality Sector and gives attendees a platform for networking as well as an opportunity to find out more about the latest cutting edge products and catering equipment across the food and drink sector.
